Rob Flickinger

Born and raised in Dallas, Texas, Rob began studying violin at the age of 7 in the SMU String Preparatory Program under the direction of Dr. Evelyn Hermann. As a part of this program he was a member of the first group of American students to travel to Japan for lessons and the annual concert in the Budokon with Dr. Shinichi Suzuki. His musical studies continued as a member of the Dallas Civic orchestra, the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra, the GDYO string quartet, and The Sewanee Summer Music Festivals. He is a graduate of The University of North Texas were he studied with Artist in residence and Fort Worth Symphon concertmaster Robert Davidovici.

Music has taken Rob on many musical adventures including Festival Orchestras in Merida, Mexico, several years with Orquesta Sinfonica Nacional in Santo, Domingo, as a touring musician with country music legend Ray Price and many Texas symphonies including Amarillo, Austin, Abilene, Wichita Falls, and East Texas. Locally he has performed with The Dallas Opera, Plano Symphony, Richardson Symphony, Lewisville Lake Symphony, Allen Philharmonic, numerous string groups and recording sessions through out the Metroplex.

Currently Rob is the concertmaster of The Orchestra at Park Cities, The New Life Symphony Orchestra and owner of Barkin Dogs Studio.

Although trained as a classical violinist, Rob loves all styles of music and grew up in Texas, so if it has strings on it he can play it. Sharing this knowledge and experience with others is a passion for Rob and he looks forward to helping students of all ages on their musical journey.
