Sophia Jieun ParkSophia Jieun Park loves to teach violin to anybody who wants to learn, including children as young as age five, as well as students of all ages, including adults. She is excited to share with you the joy and magic of being part of a musical community! Although Ms. Park has been groomed in a competitive environment, she believes studying music helps develop each person’s own distinctive talent and personality. She knows that every musician starts as a beginner, and if it wasn’t for patient and nurturing teachers, we would have very few professional musicians in the world.
As an active solo violinist, Ms. Park has won top prizes in the “Ohrid Pearls” International Competition for Young Musicians, Sun-Hwa National Competition, and Nanpa Competition. She was awarded first prize at the Sofia National Music School’s concerto competition and performed with the Pazarjik Orchestra. She has made solo appearances with the Vidin Philharmonic Orchestra, Kenwood Symphony Orchestra and the Sofia Academic Orchestra. She was introduced and interviewed as an emerging young soloist by MBC FM radio in Korea. As both a soloist and chamber musician, she has performed at Carnegie Hall, Kilbourn Hall, Shanghai Conservatory Hall, Beijing University Hall, Czech Art Center, and more. Ms. Park earned a Bachelor of Music with the prestigious Performer’s Certificate at Eastman School of Music under Prof. Oleh Krysa. While there she was a recipient of the Howard Hanson Scholarship and Jemplis Scholarship. She then completed a Master of Music from the University of Texas at Austin, and a Performance Diploma from Indiana’s Jacobs School of Music under Prof. Grigory Kalinovsky. While at Indiana she was a recipient of the Artistic Excellence Award. Ms. Park was a teaching assistant for Dr. Yim and a member of Music Teachers National Association while pursuing her Doctor of Musical Art at the University of Cincinnati’s College- Conservatory of Music.
