BA Baylor University
Brandon is a recent graduate of Baylor University with Bachelor of Arts degrees in piano performance and German language. Although his formal musical training began at the age of 10, music has always been a part of his life. As a child, his mother, once a church pianist, taught him basic singing technique through the music of Whitney Houston and other R&B greats. As a result, the passion and energy of classic R&B is an evident influence in his playing style.
Brandon was born in Denver, Colorado and moved to Plano at the age of three. Shortly after beginning his piano studies, he joined his school band where he played the bassoon and some percussion. While Brandon was in high school, he began to dive further into his musical studies and began studying the works of Beethoven, Chopin, Haydn, and other well known composers. Through his studies, he found a deep fondness for the music of 20th century composers such as Alberto Ginastera and Robert Muczynski as well as contemporary composers like Fazil Say and David Maslanka. He loves broadening his knowledge of music through other avenues and is also an avid supporter in the performance of video game music.
Brandon has performed with the Baylor Symphonic Band and Concert Band on several occasions and plans to continue to build a career as an active performer and teacher. Establishing himself as a collaborative pianist under the direction of Dr. Kae Hosoda-Ayer, he enjoys accompanying other musicians and often performed with members of the Baylor saxophone studio under the direction of Dr. Michael Jacobson. He is excited to join The Dallas School of Music in the hopes that he will be able to spread his knowledge and love of music to the community around him. His most notable teachers include Dr. Brian Marks, Dr. Annie Lin, and Dr. Steven Hall. He is also a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia and the Delta Phi Alpha German Honor Society.
